The Chinese Government is pushing for a more efficient china. Starting from 2016 the Chinese government has initiated a subsidy policy which attempts to tackle the environmental and social costs produced by the consumption of diesel and gasoline in “ordinary cars”, this subsidy policy is structured to last for 4 years, ending in 2020.
So far the policy is half way there, and there have been visible changes in the transport systems around china, for instance the amount of electric powered public buses and trams have increased drastically. Alongside with other policies the Chinese government has managed to greatly incentivize the purchasing of electric vehicles as opposed to the fossil fueled cars.
